Eastern Training
Would you like to deal more intelligently with stress?
Would you like to be capable of a greater degree of relaxation?
Would you like the skills to balance your mind and body and restore health?
The following is a brief overview of some of the concepts covered in a Qi Development Program:
The word Qigong (pronounced chee kung) is a combination of two ideas:
- "Qi" means air, breath of life, or vital energy of the body
- "gong" means the skill of working with, or cultivating, self-discipline and achievement.
The methods of Qigong include:
- Physical Movement
- Breathing Exercises
- Mind-Body Integration
- Meditation
- Relaxation
Practitioners of Qigong develop an awareness of the qi sensations (energy) in their body and use their mind to guide the Qi. When the practitioners achieve a sufficient skill they can direct or emit external Qi for the purpose of healing others.
Imagine your computer or TV. Without electricity it does not operate. Chi is like electricity for your body.
When the qi in you and around you is flowing smoothly, you will experience states of calmness and awareness. This reduces stress, relaxes you deeply, and balances your mind and body.
The Mind-Body connection refers to the ability for you to move while attending to your form and posture, staying mindful and present in your body, staying alert to your internal sensations and external environment, all the while keeping your breath slow, deep and steady.
